One of the most prestigious residential buildings in Manhattan is the San Remo. It sits on Central Park West at West 75th street. The San Remo is home to a number of celebrities. It is said to have amazing views of Central Park from its uppper stories. A two-bedroom condo in the San Remo could be had today for a mere $5.9 million. 🙂 I captured this shot of the San Remo at sunset. The setting sun reflected off the side of the building, creating an almost unreal lighting on the north tower. I quickly snapped off a few shots, hoping to capture the lighting as best as I could before it disappeared completely. I’ve learned from experience that lighting in these situations can change *very* quickly and, sure enough, within a few minutes, the light was gone. As always, feel free to comment. In addition, please feel free to..

Last week’s theme for Fifty Two Frames was “macro.” I was originally going to try to do a water drop refraction photo, but, in the end, decided on doing a straight macro. My subject was the lulav bundle which Jews use during the festival of Succos (which we are now in the middle of). During this holiday, Jews bundle together a palm frond with twigs of myrtle and willow. Together with a citron (think of it like a bumpy lemon), they wave them during synagogue services. Most people, when seeing the lulav bundle see the plants side by side (myrtle on the right, willow on the left). I decided to rotate the image ninety degrees, to create a different view of it. As always, comments, critiques and criticisms are welcome, encouraged and appreciated.
As I’ve mentioned in the past, I’m a sucker for waterfall shots. However, there aren’t too many waterfalls in and around New York City (where I live), so I don’t get to take them very often. So, imagine how surprised I was when, while roaming around Prospect Park in Brooklyn, I came across this little scene. Yes, it’s a very small waterfall, but it’s still beautiful, which, in my opinion, is what counts far more than the height or the volume of water. Fortunately, I had my tripod with me, so I was able to set up and take multiple shots of this little waterfall. Without my tripod, I could never have captured this image (which is actually blended from seven images captured at different exposures). This shot was taken at the beginning of October and one of the things I love is that you can just begin to see..

This shot was taken at the beginning of October and one of the things I love is that you can just begin to see the changing of the colors of the leaves. There is just a hint of yellow on some of the leaves, giving a tease of the grand colors that would be there in the week or two that followed.
